It’s okay to rest

It’s okay to rest.

And, it’s honestly one of the most important things for our body, mind and spirit.

Often clients report to me that they are feeling overwhelmed, fatigued and burning the candle at both ends.

This type of lifestyle simply can’t be sustained for long periods of time. Your health and the quality of your life will pay a price.

So, what do you do?

Especially if you don’t have the time?

You schedule the time.

  • You wrap up a day early and put on your comfy robe or pajamas and turn on your favorite movie.

  • You turn off all notifications and cook you and / or your family a delicious meal.

  • You sit down and open your favorite book or the book you’ve put off reading.

  • You open your lawn chair to face the sun and sit outside for 10 minutes basking in the light.

  • You open a sketch book and box of crayons or coloring pencils and draw,… music is optional.

  • You call your best friend and schedule a coffee date or dinner out.

  • You take some time to treat yourself to a manicure, pedicure or both.

  • Put together a puzzle.

But, here I am taking about rest from the business of life.

“there are two types of tired; one when you need sleep, the other when you need peace.”

You cannot pour from an empty cup...

Bringing peace in your life by following some of the suggestions above will help your body rest to be able to get more meaningful sleep. These elements will also help you to connect to your feminine energy and divine strength by allowing you to be more present and mindful in your day to day choices and actions.

Sleep is single handedly one of the most important elements to your health. And, without optimal sleep, it will become even more challenging to accomplish your health goals. Sleep recovers your body from all it is capable of doing, from weight training and will aid in weight loss. It helps to regulate and sustain our hormones and aids in the body’s healing system.

And — not getting adequate sleep can cause some pretty adverse side effects if you’re not sleeping enough.

These include, but not limited to:

  • high blood pressure,

  • diabetes,

  • heart attack

  • heart failure

  • stroke

And, yes, these are the major long term consequences, however, other potential problems include obesity, depression, impairment in immunity and lower sex drive.

Chronic sleep deprivation can also affect your physical appearance and further escalate the aging process.

Start to improve your sleep by scheduling and implementing some restful moments into your weekly routine.

Then, build a night time sleep routine to ensure you’re getting the proper rest your body needs.

  • Shut off electronic devices an hour before bed time

  • Wash your face (or shower off the day) and take time to tone, moisturize and love your skin

  • Turn on your favorite night time meditation

  • Shut off or unplug your wifi

  • Create intimate time with your partner

  • Pray and let go of the existing day

It worth time, effort and energy to improve your quality of rest and sleep. Both are equally important and you deserve to give your self a peaceful and thriving life.
